About

Who we are

The Charente department has the largest film and audiovisual production support fund in France, working alongside the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and the CNC – Centre national du cinéma et de l’imagé animée. Throughout the year, the region hosts numerous film and fiction productions. It now has an office dedicated to hosting film shoots, which is the point of contact for production companies.

Magelis pole

A local cooperation body, the Pôle Image Magelis brings together the Charente Department, the New Aquitaine Region, the Greater Angoulême Urban Area, the City of Angoulême and the Charente Chamber of Commerce and Industry. For 25 years, it has been contributing to the development and vitality of the region’s image industries. Already managing the department’s production aid fund, it has a wide network of contacts among French producers.

DEVELOPING FILMING IN THE CHARENTE

Magelis’ ambition is to increase the number of film shoots in the Charente and demonstrate its ability to host major productions, such as Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, shot in Angoulême and the biggest international production ever made in France. The BAT Charente works closely with the departments of the Charente département and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, ALCA (Agence Livres Cinéma et Audiovisuel) and Film France-CNC (the CNC’s attraction department).
